Many of the electrical items in your home should be examined for proper operation and general condition regularly.  Some of these you, the homeowner, can check yourself.

• Circuit Breakers – Are your breakers warm to the touch?  Do they make a sizzling noise?
• Devices – Are your receptacles loose or cracked?  Are your switches or dimmers warm?  Are the cover plates cracked or missing?
• Weatherproof Covers – Are they still keeping out the elements? 
• Ground Fault Interrupter receptacles – Are they working properly?  Are they installed in the proper locations?
• Smoke Detectors – Are your smoke detectors still functioning?  Are they installed in the proper locations?  According to the National Fire Protection Association, a 30% failure rate can be expected with smoke detectors 10 years or older.
• Surge Protection – Is your valuable equipment protected from electrical surges?

Action Electric can repair or replace any non-working electrical items in your home and we offer a Safety Check for many items that should be tested only by a licensed electrical contractor such as:

• Check the main breaker
• Check service ground for loose connection
• Check the service entrance riser
• Check branch circuit panel, air handler and condenser disconnects for loose connections and grounding
• Check smoke detectors
• Check that ground fault receptacles are tripping at the proper milliamps
• Check other systems that may be in place – pool equipment, emergency generator, etc.

If you prefer to have an experienced electrician do an Electrical Safety Check, call Action Electric.  For a reasonable fee, we can check your electrical system, make minor repairs or provide a written quotation; no work will be done without your approval.
